Welcome to our website

We hope you enjoy taking a look around at what is just a taste of what we are doing as a church. Our website is quite new so expect much more content over the weeks ahead

We are a friendly and welcoming church with people of all ages and backgrounds. Our passion is to show God's love to our community in real and practical ways, so do come and see us. And if you can't, call us, we will be happy to visit you and to help you in any way we can. It doesn't matter if you don't yet know God, we would love to hear from you.

Why not drop us a line, or better still, pop in and see us at 10:30am Sunday mornings.

Knowing Christ and Making Him Known

Our purpose as a church is to know Christ, and to make Him known, thereby bringing glory to God, ensuring that His favour and Presence rests upon us and all that we do. Read more about us and our leadership structure here.

Pastor Ray Bindra with his wife Janet. Ray and Janet Bindra have been the senior ministers at Emmanuel since November 1999. Read a personal message from them here

Our Vision

We believe that every member of Emmanuel should be actively involved in working for the Kingdom of God. We are committed :

  • To encourage and empower our church to win and disciple as many people as possible to faith in Christ
  • To serve 250 people every week in the local community
  • To support and serve missions, missionaries and the poor, both overseas and in the UK with giving, praying and going.

Pastor Ray Bindra is assisted by Brian Greenaway, the Operations Manager at Emmanuel. Brian can be seen here with his wife Elizabeth and their children Abigail and Josiah.

Prayer Is The Key

Prayer is central to the life of Emmanuel Church and all are encouraged to participate.  We believe that intimacy with God is developed through effective communication (prayer).  Click below to find out how you could get involved.

Good News!

The greatest discovery of our lives has been getting to know and understand God's love for us. At some point in our lives we have all done wrong and fallen short of God's perfect standard. This is called sin, which simply means choosing our own way instead of God's way and failing to meet His perfect standard.

Just as in our society our sense of justice demands that crime must be punished, God's perfect justice also demands that sin must be punished. The Bible says that the penalty of sin is death and eternal separation from God. God cannot forgive us until the debt of our sin is paid in full and yet all our good works are not good enough. We cannot hope to please a perfect God because we are imperfect - all of us, even the best of us, have sinned and must be punished.

The good news is that God loves us so much that He sent His Son Jesus, not to judge us, but to die in our place and take the punishment for our sin. Jesus Christ is the only righteous, perfect one and he willingly paid our debt. All it takes for us is to put our trust in Him, turn away from our wrong doings and let Him be the Lord of our lives.

Are you content to carry on living for yourself or do you want a new life of purpose and hope? You can receive forgiveness and start getting to know God today just be saying and believing this simple prayer:

"Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and I now want to turn away from my past life toward you. Please forgive me. I believe that your Son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was raised from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You and to do Your will for the rest of my life. Amen."

If you have said this prayer and you feel you want to talk to someone about this or want to learn more about the Christian faith, or if you want prayer or counselling, please contact Pastor Ray Bindra or Brian Greenaway at the church office on 01322 272649.
